About Collin - Guitar, Acting, and Voice Instructor

Raleigh, NC

Collin Yates is an Actor/Musician based out Raleigh North Carolina. He is an alumni of the North Carolina Theater Conservatory having taken classes in high school and performing with North Carolina Theater through out high school and college. He graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Theater Arts: Concentration in Musical Theater. Additionally he studied Meisner with Gregory Funaro as part of the professional acting program, and spent his last semester in NYC through Syracuse University as apart of the Tepper Semester. The semester consisted of classes with professionals in musical theater, TV and film, and Shakespeare. 

Collin has been playing guitar for over a decade. From pit orchestras in musical theater, to heavy metal bands at theme parks, he has enjoyed performing a wide variety of music genres. Recently he has had the pleasure of entering the world of Million Dollar Quartet, staring in productions as both Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins the father of Rockabilly. Most recently he has joined the cast of the touring theatrical concert Sun Records Live. Performing as Carl, Elvis, and Luther Perkins of Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two. Collin has spent the last five years writing and composing original music, some of which can be found on Spotify. 

As an educator, Collin hopes to instill confidence in his students while nurturing the joys of performing and practicing guitar and voice. It’s his goal to create a student forward learning experience, where students feel empowered to bring what they want to learn to their lessons and, through their own interests, become more well rounded and competent musicians.
