HoneyBee Coaching Workshop

I decided to partner up with my friend, Alyssa White (owner of HoneyBee Coaching), to offer a workshop for students who struggle with performance and/or audition anxiety specifically. Alyssa is one of the most talented people I know, but she's also a licensed mental health counselor. This will be a unique mock audition masterclass with a focus on mental wellbeing in addition to singing/acting technique. With individualized feedback and tips from a vocal coach and a mindset coach, this masterclass will support students in practicing their audition skills while also learning techniques to foster confidence and handle audition nerves.

Here's a bit more about Alyssa:

Coaching Background:
I grew up in Raleigh, NC and moved to Charlotte after graduating from UNC-Greensboro with my Master's in Counseling and from Elon University with a Bachelor's in Psychology. I have worked as a mental health counselor in a community agency, but made the shift to coaching in order to bring more of my full, authentic self and experiences to client relationships. Coaching allows for a deeper, reciprocal, peer-like relationship in which I am able to provide a safe space for clients to be vulnerable and reach their true potential. Together, my clients and I work on fostering growth in mindset areas such as anxieties, self-image, confidence, self-compassion, as well as performance-related areas including audition anxiety, performance anxiety, stage fright, self-doubt, handling rejection, emotional expression, speaking up in class, social situations, etc.

Performance Background:

I have performed in community and regional musical theatre since I was 5 years old! Most recently I have enjoyed playing roles such as "Miss Honey" in Matilda, "Katherine" in Newsies, "Portia" in Something Rotten, and "Rosemary" in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I am classically trained in vocal performance and even performed a duet with Josh Groban at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in 2016! With my real life experience of being a young girl, a teen, AND an adult in the performance space, I bring with me true compassion and understanding for all it entails, including the joys and challenges that come with it. I was not always confident on the stage. This reflected what was really a lack of self-assurance in my offstage life. Through my ownworkalong my personal wellness journey, I have evolved from an anxious, shy kid into an empowered performer and coach. I feel it is my purpose to share these experiences with younger girls and women in order to help them along the same illuminating path I followed.

So, here are the details:

  • The workshop will be Sunday, November 20 from 2-4pm ET on Zoom. The ID and password will be provided later on.

  • This workshop will consist of 5 individuals who prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a song. Alyssa will first work with the person before and after they perform, then I will work with them on the vocal technique and acting side.

  • To watch, it will be $20. You are allowed to ask questions and such; you just wouldn't sing. You also can pay $20 and watch the recording later if you are not able to attend live.
